In-Store Faves
I went into Nordstrom in Denver so I could try on pieces and see how they fit and felt. There’s something about actually touching these pieces to really understand the quality and fabric.
Keep scrolling to find some of our favorite outfits! Full disclosure, every store offers some sale items, but definitely not all. To see all of our picks in each category, make sure you check out this post!
SIZE REFERENCE: I’m 5’4″ and wear a size 2-4, Small & 26 Jeans. All items run true to size unless specifically stated below.
NOTE: This is a highly shopped sale and while there are some restocks, many products sell out quickly or have limited sizing at this point in the sale. We will try to update posts with the most recent, relevant information.
Outfit #1) Cable Knit Sweater & Dark Wash Jeans
For the first outfit, I wanted to share something casual that I’d consider a version of my fall uniform. I’m wearing a Free People sweater that will sell out fast! It’s the perfect cropped length for wearing with high-rise jeans, has pretty cable knit detailing, and comes in a few color options. I’m wearing the Chocolate color.
With the sweater, I’m wearing the Mother Hustler jeans in ‘Night In Paris’ and they are the perfect super dark wash jeans! I have the Mother Hustler jeans in multiple washes and knew I needed to try these because they’ll be SO versatile for fall/winter. I love the frayed hem, cropped length (27.5”), and high-rise (11”) fit.
On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of Dolce Vita loafers that are super lightweight, cool, and VERY comfortable! If you need new work shoes or just want a stylish pair of flats, these are SO good. They run a little big so I would order a half size down from your normal size.
2) Ivory Sweater Tank & Wide-Leg Jeans
Next up is another super chic, elevated casual look. I’m wearing an ivory sleeveless sweater by Paige that’s SO pretty. It’s the perfect layering piece for fall too. It’s ribbed, has small flutter details on the shoulders that add a nice touch of femininity to the top, and it’s a cotton-blend material so you’ll stay cool.
I styled it with a pair of cropped wide-leg jeans by Frame that I LOVE! They’re a 70s-inspired palazzo jean that’s so fun and perfect for styling with any kind of shoes. They have a 29” inseam, which is a length I really like when wearing heels. The dark wash makes them feel a little dressier while the wider leg silhouette makes them feel more casual.
I threw on a longline cardigan by Open Edit that’s such a good basic for fall/winter. It also comes in blue and dark gray but beige will be the most wearable. I like the ribbed fabric and the weight of the sweater. It’s one of those pieces you can wear casually with leggings around the house or with jeans for a casual dinner.
I completed the look with this gorgeous brown Rag & Bone hat. I have a few hats from this brand and they last for YEARS. This one is such a good neutral for fall/winter. It’s an investment but when you think of cost per wear, it’s worth it! But I did link a similar option below. On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of Marc Fisher boots that you’ll see more of below…
3) Black Wrap Front Bodysuit & Flared Jeans
This wrap front bodysuit is one of the pieces I featured in my NSale Sneak Peek video so I was so happy to get to try it on. It is such a good basic for fall/winter. The wrap front is super flattering on all body shapes, the v-neckline is also very flattering and not too low cut, and since it’s a bodysuit it’s easy to style with jeans, pants, and skirts. It also comes in white and olive green, both of which would be super versatile for fall/winter.
I styled the bodysuit with a pair of flare jeans by Mother. I have these jeans in another wash but this pair is such a good medium wash that will go with everything. They have a 30.5” inseam which works well with heels but since it has a frayed hem, you could easily cut them yourself if you’re shorter. The 10.5” high-rise is really flattering and the denim feels like it holds you in without being uncomfortable.
On my feet are a SUPER cute pair of Dolce Vita platform sandals. Platforms are very on-trend right now and I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon. I love the look of the twisted straps and that it’s a chunkier block heel, which makes them easier to walk in. They have a 4” heel and a 1” platform so it’s more like walking in 3” heels…which is very manageable. They also come in beige, ivory, and pink.
4) Cropped Blazer & Flared Jeans
I wanted to show you a way you can take the last look and make it a little more fall-ready so I threw on a chic black cropped blazer by Paige. It’s this really beautiful boucle tweed fabric that feels and looks very chic. If you’re petite, this is a great blazer for you (cropped jackets and blazers are perfect for petites!).
Next, I threw on an AllSaints scarf and a black handbag. This scarf is SO pretty in person, the material is lovely, and it’s such a good neutral if you don’t already have that basic covered. It’s also super lightweight. The bag is a croc-embossed beauty perfect for holding all of the essentials (and then some).
I’m wearing the same Dolce Vita platform sandals but for a chilly fall day, I’d swap them for some black booties (I’m sharing a gorgeous pair below…).
5) Cashmere Hoodie & Straight-Leg Jeans
This is one of those outfits you throw on for the kids’ sporting events, running errands, or hanging out at home. I’m wearing a casual but oh-so-chic cashmere hoodie by Nordstrom Signature that I can already tell will be a heavy hitter for me in Colorado. The cashmere is super soft but still lightweight. I love the drawstring hoodie and relaxed fit. It runs large, I’m wearing an XS.
I have it half-tucked into a pair of Pistola straight-leg jeans that are SO good…just trust me. If you’re on the hunt for affordable versatile jeans, these Pistola jeans are IT (for only $83!). They have a classic leg silhouette, dark wash, very minimal distressing, and the fit is lovely. Denise, Team Busbee’s YouTube co-producer also tried them on and said they’re really good too. (You can see how Denise styled them below).
On my feet are a pair of HOFF sneakers that I really LOVE. This brand is new to me but I loved the retro look and different tones on these sneakers so much. I have on the color ‘San Diego’ but they come in a few other colors as well. They’re super comfortable (have a memory foam insole), lightweight, and unique. They only come in whole sizes so if you’re in between sizes, order one size up.
Reiss Camel Coat
If you like the casual look but need more warmth, add a gorgeous camel coat! This camel coat by Reiss is so beautiful, the perfect neutral, has a flattering tie waist, and is a great length. It’s also super warm! If you don’t have a classic wool-blend coat in your closet, this a classic option you’ll wear for years and years. I’m wearing a size 4 so I have a little extra room to layer bulkier sweaters underneath.
6) Edgy Sweater & Straight-Leg Jeans
This is a fall outfit formula I’ll wear on repeat. Cute sweater + classic jeans + comfortable booties = the perfect fall look! I’m wearing a grey AllSaints sweater that has an edgy, cool raw hem that makes it one of those basics-with-a-twist I’m always talking about. I like the casual look of the roomier fit and it looks great half-tucked or untucked. It’s also very soft! Heads up…the description on the Nordstrom site says it’s 100% polyester but the tag inside the sweater says it’s 95% cashmere. I styled it with the same Pistola jeans from earlier and some black moto boots. These black Nordstrom boots have cool buckle details and they’re water-resistant! They have a chunky sole with great tread and a very small 1.5” heel and 1” platform. You can wear these with jeans, dresses, or skirts to add a little extra edge to any look. I completed the look with the same AllSaints bag and scarf.
7) Rails Chambray Mini Dress & Boots
This chic little chambray dress by Rails is a wear-now, wear-later piece. Wear it for the rest of the summer months with cute sandals or heels…then style it like I did with boots or booties for fall. This dress has a super flattering smocked waist that creates the illusion of a much smaller waist. I love the chambray-looking fabric, perfect lightweight feel, subtle puff shoulders, and ruffle details.
I styled it with a pair of knee high beige boots by Marc Fisher that are such a good basic if you don’t already have knee-high boots! They have a manageable and easy-to-walk in 3” heel, are comfortable (for heels), and they also come in black leather and black suede.
To make the look even more fall-ready, I threw on the long Open Edit cardigan and the Rag & Bone hat but you can make whatever accessory swaps work best for your lifestyle and the occasion.
8) Silk Blouse & Black Coated Jeans
How beautiful is this bright cobalt blue?! This is one of those colors that looks so good on so many skin tones. This Reiss button-down shirt is so pretty, looks super luxe, is 100% silk, and has a lovely fit. The color and the oversized cuffs are what makes this a standout piece. If you’re looking for a new work blouse or just a top that will make you feel pretty and brighten up your face, this is the one!
I styled it with a pair of black coated jeans Good American. These are very similar to the pair that were in last year’s NSale. They have a 26.5” inseam (perfect for shorter women), are bootcut, and have a subtle coated look. Our YouTube co-producer bought last year’s version and wore them so much that she repurchased this year’s version too! One big sizing note: They run very small, order TWO sizes up.
On my feet, I’m wearing a pair of black Naturalizer booties. What I love about these boots is that they’re leather and suede, which makes them a little extra special and unique. The 2.75” kitten heel is very manageable, easy to walk in, and they’re very comfortable. The pointed toe really elongates the leg…especially paired with the black jeans! In the last picture above, I threw on a cool faux leather blazer to add some extra edge to the look. Keep scrolling for more info on that blazer…
9) Faux Leather Blazer & Coated Jeans
This faux leather blazer by Good American is such a good piece to have in your closet for nights out or when you want to add a little extra edge to your casual look. I featured it in my NSale Sneak Peek video and it looks even better in person than it does online. Plus, the fit is amazing!
Underneath the blazer, I’m wearing a really cool top by AllSaints. It’s a long sleeve, sheer, mock neck top with a really pretty, unique print. I love the draping around the neck and that the feminine moth print in the black fabric is a perfect mix of feminine and edgy. It’s also a great price point at $65.
I styled it with the same Good American coated jeans and black Naturalizer booties for a cool, edgy, but sophisticated night-out look.
10) Faux Shearling & Leather Jacket
This one is a bit of a wildcard but it’s so fun (and affordable) that I just had to show you! Over the outfit I’m wearing in #9, I threw on this cool BlankNYC jacket. It’s a faux leather and shearling-lined moto jacket that has cool shearling trim and a cropped length. It has a bulkier oversized fit but would look super cool this fall with jeans and booties or even a dress!
11) Veronica Beard Blazer & Skirt
You didn’t think I went into a Nordstrom store and didn’t try on a Veronica Beard blazer, did you?? This Veronica Beard blazer is such a gorgeous beige tone and the faux leather feels like butter! It comes with the zip-in/zip-out dickey in a ribbed cable knit fabric with contrasting black around the neckline. It looks perfect styled with the ivory Paige sweater tank from look #2 underneath.
I paired it with the matching faux leather skirt but there are also matching pants available. The skirt is a really flattering A-line silhouette and the pockets at the hips don’t add too much bulk. The length is also perfect…not too long, not too short. You could add this matching look to your work wardrobe to change it up a bit or just grab one of the pieces to add some excitement to your closet!
I styled the skirt and blazer with the beige Marc Fisher boots because they were the perfect shade to pull off this monochrome, matching look!
12) Navy Cropped Blazer & Matching Pants
This is one of those looks that I put on and immediately felt powerful and confident! If you’re looking for a workwear upgrade, add these pieces to your closet. I’m wearing a cropped blazer by Frame that can be worn to work or with jeans for an elevated casual look. It’s a great length, the navy blue is really pretty, and I love the structured shoulder. Underneath, I’m wearing the ivory sweater tank tucked into the matching navy Frame trousers. These wide-leg pants are a workwear essential! They’re super flattering and give a very polished look. They have a 33.5” inseam so I had to wear heels. But you could also easily get them hemmed. I styled them with the Dolce Vita platform sandals but for the office, wear a pair of black booties or pumps.
Jewelry
Before we move on to the rest of the outfits, I want to point out the jewelry I’m wearing in every outfit so far. It should be no surprise that it’s ALL by Monica Vinader! Monica Vinader is one of my all-time favorite jewelry brands because they make pieces that are substantial, stand the test of time, make an impact without being too showy, and they’re just beautiful timeless pieces.
The four pieces I’m wearing are the Alta Capture Necklace, the Alta Capture Charm Bracelet, the Riva Cocktail Diamond Hoops, and the Riva Diamond Hoop Ring (not pictured above, but you’ve probably caught glimpses of it throughout the post). I’ve had most of these pieces for years and still wear them almost every day. If you want to invest in quality, classic, everyday jewelry…Monica Vinader is the way to go!

13) Faux Shearling Coat
I did a second sweep of the store after I had already put my “regular” non-NSale clothes on and spotted this gorgeous faux shearling coat by Sam Edelman. I love the white for brightening those gloomy fall/winter days and the shearling is so soft you just want to wrap yourself up under this coat! Underneath, I’m wearing a white tee, my favorite white Mother Hustler jeans, and my Chloe sneakers but for winter, I’d probably wear this with a white sweater, the same white jeans, and some sleek white booties!
14) Little Black Dress
Next up is this chic little black dress…a must-have for every woman’s closet. This black dress by Steve Madden is one of those dresses you can wear for different occasions…dinner, the office, a drink with friends, etc. And it’s only $53…a steal! I love that it has sleeves, the belted waist is super flattering, the handkerchief hem is so unique, and I love the length.
I styled it with a pair of L’Agence heels that make the dress a little sexy. These exact mules are from last year but they’re available this year in black and tan suede. If you wanted to wear this to work, style it with classic pumps and a blazer.
15) Little Black Dress…on Denise!
Aaaaand you get to see the EXACT same look on Denise too! For those of you who are new here, Denise is our YouTube co-producer and NSale pro. Denise also went into her local store to try everything that she was eyeing so you’ll see her favorites now. For sizing and length references, Denise is 5’5″ and wears a size 6.
16) Black Cinq a Sept Dress
Denise tried two more little black dresses so if the last one wasn’t your style, don’t worry…you’re going to love these! This first is this stunning Cinq a Sept dress. The contrasting stitching is SO flattering, we love the flounce hemline, longer sleeve length, and pretty neckline. She styled it with the same L’Agence mules from the last two looks.
17) Black A-Line Dress
This last LBD by Frame is SO chic and perfect for events, luncheons, work, etc. It has an A-line skirt with strategically placed pleats that make for a very flattering shape. The voluminous puff sleeves are so fun and we love that it has buttons on the top. Denise styled it with the same L’Agence heels, but you can wear this with pumps, flats, mules, etc.
18) Cropped Jacket & Jeans
Remember those amazing Pistola jeans from earlier in the post? Denise loved them too and you can see her wearing them here. She styled them with the same ivory sweater tank Erin wore and a beautiful camel jacket by Theory. Denise loves the cropped length, versatile color, and luxe look and feel of the cashmere and wool blend fabric. The 6 fit her but she decided to size up to get some extra room for layering underneath it this fall.
On Denise’s feet, she’s wearing a pair of classic black Stuart Weitzman booties. This brand is known for its high-quality shoes and these comfy boots are no exception. These booties have an elongating pointed toe and chunky black heel that’s easy to walk in (3”).
19) Fringe Blazer & Jeans
In this look, Denise is wearing a cool fringe blazer by Cinq A Sept. Erin and Denise both have this blazer in different colors so they were excited to see this fun fringe option in the sale! It has fringe edge details, ruched sleeves (no having to push your sleeves up!), and it’s the perfect relaxed fit. Under the blazer, Denise is wearing the same ivory sweater tank.
She styled the blazer with a pair of AG Mari jeans that are a Team Busbee favorite! These are the perfect dark wash, a versatile straight-leg silhouette, and a flattering high-rise. And they’re right at $150…which is great considering the quality. You can wear these with every top you have in your closet for years and years!
20) Striped Coat & Jeans
Next up, Denise tried on this cool Sam Edelman striped coat we love! The striped pattern is super subtle and since it’s in black and white, it’s very wearable. The weight is just right for cool winter days and the length is perfect. Underneath, Denise is wearing the same ivory sweater, AG jeans, and Stuart Weitzman booties.
21) Elevated Button-Down Shirt & Jeans
This Veronica Beard button-down shirt is such a cool piece to add to your closet to wear with jeans for a casual lunch, running errands, or dressing up for the office with trousers. The way the stripes are displayed on this button-down, combined with the ruching and gathered look around the stomach makes this top super flattering. Denise styled it with the AG jeans and black Stuart Weitzman booties.
