Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker laced up his signature Nike Book 1 sneakers during a game between Utah Jazz on Friday night in Salt Lake City. The Phoenix Suns took home the win for a final score of 131-128. Booker had 24 points and a career-high 15 assists.
Booker’s signature sneakers will drop next spring in four colorways, although Nike is mainly highlighting the bright orange “Clay Orange” version for the moment. During a Complex Sneaker Shopping episode, Booker confirmed that only 500 pairs of the highly anticipated colorway will be produced. The signature sneaker will retail for $150.

Booker directed Nike’s design team toward a few pre-existing models to draw inspiration from for his signature style: the Air Force 1, which seems to be the most obvious source of inspiration at first glance; the Blazer and the Air Jordan 1. Booker’s mission with his signature shoe was to create something that would be timeless
The 1972 Chevy Blazer K5 was also a source of inspiration for the basketball star, an SUV the Phoenix Suns star restored, converted to a lowrider, and nicknamed “Uncle Larry.” The vehicle maintains its original patina on the outside with a modern high-performance engine under the hood.
The Book 1 sneaker includes Cushlon 2.0 midsoles for increased stability and responsiveness while a rigid TPU sidewall adds support. Nike’s Zoom airbag is then top-loaded at the heel, while a midfoot shank plate offers torsional rigidity.
A herringbone pattern on the outsole equips the sneaker with enhanced traction. The footwear features loads of personalized elements including a barcode on the insole that features Booker’s jersey number and the area codes for his birthplace Grand Rapids, Mich., his high school in Moss Point, Miss. and Phoenix, where he now plays. “BOOK” is branded on the tongue of the sneakers while the words “CHAPTER ONE” can be found on the heels.
