AN ELEGANCE whizz has listed the five winter wardrobe essentials that will make you look tacky in seconds.
As the weather gets colder and we approach winter, it may be tempting to wrap up in a bulky puffer jacket to stay toasty – but this, as well as four other items, are anything but elegant, an expert has warned.
The style pro, only known as Level Blue on TikTok, claimed that you will never see a classy lady sporting a glossy outerwear piece, as it simply resembles trash.
Whilst it may be one of the hottest trends right now, especially amongst the infleuncers, the guru said the ”crinkly material” felt and looked ”like a plastic bag”.
Instead, she advised in her video, opt for a more matt style – not only does it look more chic, but the jacket also ”won’t create as much of noise when you move”.
Uggs
Uggs and similar cut boots have long been a cult favourite for many fashionistas – so much so, that there also also plenty of budget-friendly dupes in the market.
However, as warm and cosy as they may be, the elegance coach said the world-famous boots are not the most flattering option out there.
In her opinion, Uggs, whether it’s a £35 lookalike at River island or the real deal, ”make your feet look wide and chunky”.
”Bonus points if it has a massive platform,” Level Blue chuckled.
”There are plenty of other winter boots that are comfortable and warm without looking tacky.”
Massive scarves
An stylish oversized scarf is the perfect accessory to stay toasty as the temperatures begin to drop – but one person you will never see sporting this winter must-have is the fashion guru.
She noted that these, especially when made from synthetic materials, such as acrylic and polyester, ”completely messes up the proportions”.
”It makes your upper part look bulky and and heavy.”
Where possible, the pro advised to instead ditch the chunky look for a more delicate alternative, for example, a standard size cashmere or wool scarf.
Tacky hats
In terms of hats, Level Blue urged to stay as minimal as possible and steer clear of anything with shiny pearls, rhinestones and gems glued on top.
Pom-poms, no matter how fun they may look, are also a no-no.
”It just looks silly, i’m not gonna lie.
”This is not something a classy lady would wear.”
if you insist on shopping for a beanie-style hat, the style guru said to look for something without extra elements.
Childish mittens and gloves
A similar less-is-more approach should also employed when finding the perfect pair of gloves, the fashionista told her 595k followers on the platform.
Unless you’re ten, she joked, gloves and mittens with pearls, bunny designs and other childing elements should best be left in the store.
”These are not appropriate for a sophisticated lady.”
instead, Level Blue advised to opt for suede or good quality leather material – a classic that will never go out of style.
What’s your favourite winter outfit? Did she mention any of your top pieces?
Fellow style lovers raced to comments to share their thoughts, with one thanking the expert for posting the clip: ”Fantastic advice!”
”I agree, love this video,” a second chimed in.
”Phew, I don’t have any of this,” a third penned.
”I passed,” someone else exclaimed with joy.
